Windows 11 minimum system requirements

Microsoft is launching Windows 11 on July 29th, and it is the successor to Windows 10 which was launched in 2015. It is expected that many of the improvements from Windows 10 will be carried over to Windows 11. How much difference will this make? Here is what we know from :

It is officially Windows 11 and Microsoft has shed the Windows 8.1 moniker. Windows 11 is a free upgrade for Windows 7 and 8.1 users. You will not be able to load Windows 7 after Windows 10, and Windows 8.1 after Windows 10, but you will not be forced to upgrade. Windows 8.1 users will receive a Windows 10 Technical Preview after testing, and Windows 7 users will get a free upgrade to Windows 10. Windows 10 is a new operating system for regular users, and non-enterprise users. It is based on the Windows NT kernel and the XBOX kernel (XBOX OS also called OSX). Windows 10 is a multi-purpose operating system for regular users, and non-enterprise users.

After the launch of Windows 10 , and the release of Windows 10 Mobile [1] , there has been a lot of speculation as to what is going to be the minimum requirements for Windows 11. Lots of people are asking “how much RAM” and “how much storage space” they will need on their mobile devices.

With the release of Windows 11, Microsoft has set strict minimum requirements, including the requirement to use TPU 2.0 or newer processors to ensure a stable and secure experience for users getting used to the new operating system.

In this article, we will discuss the minimum hardware requirements you need to meet before upgrading to the latest version of Windows.

Earlier versions of Windows did not have such strict requirements. According to Microsoft, there are three reasons for this.

  • Security: To meet the new security requirements of Windows 11, you must have a processor with built-in TPM, Secure Boot Support, and VBS support, as well as some VBS functionality.
  • Reliability: You need a processor that is compatible with the new Windows driver model and is supported by Microsoft’s OEM and silicon partners, which translates into a 99.8 percent failure rate, according to Microsoft.
  • Compatibility : These are some of the basic compatibilities that meet the minimum requirements for Office and Microsoft Teams. You’ll need at least a dual-core processor over 1 GHz, 4 GB of RAM, and over 64 GB of storage.

Currently, Windows 11 is only officially available on 8th generation Intel processors. Generation, AMD Zen 2 and Qualcomm 7 and 8 series supported. However, Microsoft promises to remain compatible with 7th generation Intel and AMD Zen 1 processors. Generation to be tested during the development of the Windows Insider program.

Microsoft has launched the PC Health Check application, which allows users to check whether their computer is compatible with Windows 11 or not. However, the app was later removed because it would not provide detailed and accurate information on why a particular Windows 10 PC was not compatible.

In the meantime, you can check out the minimum system requirements for Windows 11.
